OUR HISTORY
TRADITIONAL BRAND WITH A FUTURE.
The ROHDE brand has its roots in 1862. For more than 150 years, ROHDE has influenced the shoe industry both in Germany and internationally, driving it forward with innovations at the product and manufacturing level. Our history is marked by many successes, some setbacks and a great comeback story. We have reinvented ourselves. What has remained are uncompromising quality, customer-centricity and constant innovations that make ROHDE a traditional brand with a future.
1862
Founding of the Louis Rohde tannery in Guben (Brandenburg) and 1926 takeover of the shoe factory that emerged from the tannery by Erich Rohde.
1948
Establishment of the first own manufacturing company.
1960
Opening of a production plant in Hallein (Austria) and branch plants in Immichenhain, Schrecksbach and Borken.
1965
The company founder Erich Rohde passes away. He is succeeded by his son-in-law Friedrich W. Schmitt. 1966 Son-in-law Friedrich Otto Schenk becomes limited partner and takes over the export and the development of the markets.
1974
Construction work begins on the production facility in Portugal. Production starts on March 1, 1975.
1986
Move into the new administration building in Schwalmstadt-Ziegenhain.
1997
50 years of ROHDE in Schwalmstadt. Large anniversary celebration with around 1,800 guests.
2007 and 2016
ROHDE files for insolvency. The company is restructured and streamlined.
2017
The Italian Inblu Group takes over ROHDE, Renato Lo Presti becomes the new managing director.
2021
Rebranding and strategic realignment. ROHDE focuses on the production and distribution of sandals, house and comfort shoes. With far-reaching modernization and digitization measures, further customer groups and markets are to be developed.
